Bank syndicate finances Nová Karolina

Netherlands-based developer Multi Development B.V. has received a five-year loan of €98,475 from a consortium of four banks including Czech banks Česká spořitelna, and Československá obchodní banka (ČSOB), Liechtenstein-based Hypo Investmentbank, and ČSOB’s parent, Belgium-based KBC Bank.

The shopping center is part of the mixed-use Nová Karolina project located in the center of Ostrava, North Moravia. Construction on the shopping center was frozen before beginning in 2009 when a financing agreement fell through. The project is one of the largest urban developments in the country. Retail tenants to be located in the shopping center upon completion include Dutch supermarket chain Royal Ahold N.V., multiplex operator Palace Cinemas Czech, international clothing retailer C&A, sporting goods retailer Intersport International Corporation and UK-based retailer Marks & Spencer.
